LETS TRY TO MAKE IT A LITTLE MORE FAIR NEXT SEASON WITH THE LINE UP... HOW ABOUT PICKING PING PONG BALLS FOR THE FIRST MOTO AND PICK YOUR LANE BY HOW YOU FINISHED FOR THE SECOND MOTO.... WE DONT HAVE TO DO ALL RACES... MAYBE ALL RACES WITH OVER 5 GUYS ON THE LINE... LETS DO THIS...IT WILL JUST BE BETTER AND MORE FAIR FOR EVERYONE...WE JUST NEED A BUCKET AND SOME BALLS...I KNOW YOU ARE SHORT OF HELP SCOTT BUT WHAT IF WE JUST DO THIS WHEN EVERYONE GETS TO THE LINE,YOU WOULDNT NEED ANYONE... WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK??? WHO WANTS TO DO THIS??? AM I KRAZY???DONT ANSWER THAT...WINTER SUCKS AND IT ISNT EVEN HERE YET...

I think that the first signed up for the event gets pole. I could be wrong but why not let the early bird get the wirm. If the concensus is the bucket and balls, joe you and Choochoo can decide who brings the bucket and who will bring the balls! Congrats to both of you from world.

If you want to pick your spot I'm ok with that but to be fair and keep the races up to speed, make the racers be present when the 1/2 way is completed. If they aren't there to pick their spot then they're last in line even if they qualified 1st.

I think I'm going to check out the new Honda and Yami for this season.

One last thing . . . . where is spell checker on here?[:o)]

I agree with Joe I think it would make things more intersting. I had pole over one half of the races and I feel that was not fair. (But I liked it[:p]). I think the ball and bucket is alot more fair. It can be done and should be done to be more fair next year. Team TDS sides with Joe. ;)

I kind of like the idea. Although the registration order also seems fair. Ya snooze you lose.

How do they do it at nationals and world finals?

And Pat the spell check is now working. I will write up something on how to use it in the updates forum.

To be honest the Bucket-O-Ballz iz all I knew before greatlakes watercross. I cannot honestly say that the whole thing has been early bird get the worm also. As I signed up online for every race in 07 and I did not always get the pole (sometimes it was someone who signed up day of).

Anyhow, I am all for the bucket-O-Ballz. It's how it is done in Havasu, and region 9. It is the only random way. You will need a bunch-O-Ballz, a pole, and 2 buckets. One bucket to pull from and the other to put the ballz in. The pole is to hang the bucket on. The one being pulled from should be above a persons head and the other at the waist to drop your ballz back in. Above the head so you cannot see which ballz your pickin.

THATS ALL WE NEED TO DO,ITS EASY... I ALSO SIGNED UP FOR THE WHOLE SEASON AND DIDNT GET POLE EVERY RACE..

While the bucket of balls might seem fair it is not realistic. I have yet to see a GLW race, (or any race for that matter) where the next moto is down on line by the halfway flag of the current race. They would have to then leave their ski in the water and walk up to select a ball. If you are banking on having the holder in the water by the halfway mark to hold the ski as well as the racer, then you are really dreaming. Secondly, I think that it is important for a racer to know in advance where they are going to start so that they can mentally prepare themselves. The last thing that I need is to be in a race and have to dodge someone who is lost and turns in front of me. Safety first and always. What I consider more important than line position is making sure that nobody jumps the start. It was nice to have Scott watching the line at the Pleasant Prairie race this year. The novice stock class had a red flag start every moto that weekend.

Well I am fine with that also,I will pay for the whole season in april..Sorry guys who have to pay bills, maybe got laid off,etc.. You are at the end of the row...What about the guys that dont race every race.. If they are always get the crap postions do you think they are coming back??? Very doubtful...There is always enough time before our races...Hell we dont start until noon... We can pick all postions at the riders meeting,Done for the first motos.. All I want is it to be fair for everyone, and the same every race..It shouldnt be that hard..

Joe you are right, as for time when you check in you can select the balls this might speed up the first round

Not being able to do this is a total copout. It can be done and is done at the World Finals, along with other regions. Like I said this method of line positioning is all that I knew prior to GLW. Scott Hyke is also very familar with this, and I am sure if presented to him, he would be game for this type of change. Get your holder to hold your ski. And help the cause of getting to the line on time. You snooze you loose as simple as that. There is no reason for gaps between motos due to people not paying attention and laziness. So I see this as a multi solution. 1) it will make line posisiton randon 2) it will get people to the line sooner.

End of story!

I believe in showing respect for my elders. Therefore, it is only fair to line up for the first moto based upon age. The oldest racer gets the pole and we work our way down from there :D:D:D:D

Seriously though, the idea of a random first moto line up is very logical and fair. The only comment I would add is maybe we should consider not allowing the same person to get the pole on Saturday AND Sunday of any given weekend. In other words, if you win the pole in the first moto on Saturday, you simply aren't eligible to win it again on Sunday - and if you drew the pole again on Sunday, you'd simply take the 2nd best starting slot. Just a thought...

Pulling your number at or after the riders meeting would work. Then that would give the riders their spot to line up before the moto starts. And as for not allowing the same person having the pole sat and sun, if you are lucky enough to pull the #1 ball both days then should get it both days.

Like Josh said, It worked fine at World Finials with a full line. There is no reason that it would not work here. Just get your butt down to the line ASAP 1 holder can hold 2 boats. Or get it done before you go down to the line when your boats are still on the stands. We all know when we race and who we race with right. Lets at least give it a try at the first race. (MMMMMMMMMM BALLS).
P.S. Joe I think I will pay in March Or January 1st HA HA HA :)

How can you pay entry fees for races before the actual schedule is set? I seem to remember not knowing the final and real schedule until sometime in May this year, wasn't it??? Or was it April? I know it definitely was not March.

PUT THE HONDA ON THE POLE

I like putting the HONDA on the line. I'm just worried that when I bump into something like a Black XPL that the XPL might look like it's bleeding and they will stop the races.
