Hey guys, quick question, for the Racine race, when I sign up to race is it $100 per day since I will only be racing one class, or is that for both days? This is my first National event so I just figured I would ask! Thanks!

I live on the west side of Racine County, so I'm just under 30 minutes from the race site. I'll head over Saturday morning after I finish my coffee. JB is about as close as me, and he's got a huge yard (aka, campground), so I'm sure people can crash at his place if they need to the night before :):):). Joe's ski will be on his lift in the water about 5 miles south of the race site, so he'll just pack a lunch in his glove box, top off his tank with 87octane reformulated gas, and ride right over to the shiny new starting gate on Saturday morning.

I went on the website today to register for the racine race and it says this Form is temporarily inactive? I know I still have time, so hopefully it is fixed soon!

Also, is this the correct website to register for the Racine race? I am assuming you go to the website, click the Racine race, click register online and go from there?

That's the correct website to register for Racine. I don't doubt that they're not accepting entries for Racine just yet. Be patient. Trust me, they're not gonna "fill up" and turn down your money. My guess is most racers will be registering on the Monday/Tuesday prior or maybe the week before that.

Little help here...This Racine race. No Masters class. Also, if Scott gets no $ from it why do it? No points to be made as far as I can see too. For Susan and I to race in just one class will be $250...We will both get spanked cause my craft is stock spec in a open class, and hers is a 2 stroke in a full on 4 joke class with full mods, so whats the point? I think I'll keep the $250+, and just watch some racing. Bummer.....

06-04-2010, 03:02 PM
marty why dont you run the pro-am us ski stock class and susan run the am r/a (n/a) limitied class. I know the r/a class doesnt pay out but at least it is seat time. That is what I am going to run.

fox river pwc
06-04-2010, 08:02 PM
I know Scott either said or posted something about how the Racine race points would count towards the GLWT championships, but I don't quite "get" how that would work - especially when some of our regional classes aren't even offered??? Maybe it only applies to classes that overlap between the two tours?

Maybe Scott can chime in and explain what his plans are?

I feel your pain, marty, with not having my favorite class available. Honestly, I'm still not sure what I'm even doing yet. My pool store has been insanely busy this spring, and I'd really rather not take a saturday off in june now - but since I can't race sunday only at racine, maybe I'll just work saturday and be a sunday spectator :(.

Since Scott is supplying and running the gate at racine, I just assumed AJ was paying him for that service. Maybe not? None of my biz though...

Maulin Marto
06-05-2010, 09:27 AM
I'm not being cheap, it just seems a waste of money to spend 3 classes worth of money to race one class that I don't even race in normally. I would rather just spend the money with Scott at the next race....actually I could race 4 full classes with what they want for one, wtf? Looks like pro-am stock spec would be the only class I would have a chance in according to Capt. Overspray.

You should race in the Am Ski Open or at least in the Vet Ski Open. You'll have fun in those classes, especially the Vet Class. I personally could not see making a trip to a race, and not racing.

I think we can have fun watching...plus we have all 4 kids to deal with that weekend, so its a blessing in a way. We figured out we will save about $800 not doing the national thing, so that's good enough for us to just watch.

If you go to the registration page and fill out the form, there is no Nov RA Stock offered... Maybe I will just call them and see if it is a cl-itch in the system...

Just left a message for AJ, looks like there are a couple of classes that say they are being offered at all stops, but when you register, they are no on the available list. Will update when AJ calls back.

I don't blame you Marty. Paying premium entry fees to race is one thing, but paying them to race classes that aren't what you'd normally like to race can be tough to justify.

Anybody need a cheap pit-bi tch on June 19th? :)

Well I haven"t been on the form in quite a while. I would like to say the National Tour Races are something special,It is not a sure thing this will ever be in our area again. Speaking for my self It is great that it is in our area as we have put on 3700 mile so far this year yes it is our choice to do the tour. So I will not get in to any politics about the race classes or fees, what I am trying to say to come and support our region and the racers that will be racing, in the pits, holding or just stopping by to say Hi. So far it has been a eventful year and it is just starting.

Being that I live about 10 min from the beach...I will be down there Friday night and check everything out. Maybe have the kid set up a tent and spend the night to hold as many spots for everyone on the tour so we can all pit together. Not sure if it will work, but will see what I can do. Maybe set the tent up, and put up some yellow tape covering enough area for about 10 pits set up.

I like the idea of everyone from the GLWT pitting together. Put me down for a 10x10 spot, please :). I may try to swing out there Friday night as well, since I'm 30 minutes west of the site, but it all depends on how busy work is for me on that aft...

How many races have you competed in so far?

Do you know and understand how to safely navigate a race course within the rules?

Are you fast enough so as to not be considered a safety hazard while racing novice?

RXP85
06-15-2010, 10:56 AM
This year none, last year 2. I raced the novice limited last year with GLW, but did not know what might be better for me for the Racine race?

fox river pwc
06-15-2010, 11:30 AM
I'd suggest talking to Scott and some of the runabout racers like Joe, Craig, and Brad - since they're more familiar with how you ride and what a nat'l event is like.

Personally, I know squat about racing runabouts, but I'll say this (from my experience of watching runabouts) - If you're prone to spinning out when you (and the racers behind you) least expect it, then you're still a beginner. If not, then you're a novice.

JE513
06-15-2010, 01:22 PM
IMHO,

BEGINNER
The Beginner class is provided as an entry-level class for new riders who wish to experience the fun of racing. It is open to all Novice competitors (see Section 10.3) who have competed in three or fewer races. In the case of a series, riders may compete in the entire series prior to moving to the Novice class. Otherwise, in a rider’s fourth race, he/she must compete in the Novice class.
Beginner-class competitors may race Stock or Limited watercraft.

Derek, you raced Novice Limited in Rounds 4, 6, and 7 last year. So you can't race Beginner.

RagingDiablo666
06-15-2010, 01:32 PM
Derek....you are a Novice, give yourself more credit than that buddy... I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out if I want to run Novice and Amateur RA Stock or just Novice. First race of the year, could be 12 laps moto's on waves, not sure if my beat up bones can take running two class, but I want to. I am thinking of just running one class. That is 36 laps on a large coarse with waves, compared to 18 for one class last year on GLW.

fox river pwc

you raced Novice Limited in Rounds 4, 6, and 7 last year

Rounds 4, 6, and 7 is three or fewer, so according to the strict wording of the rule, he can race beginner.

Regardless, I still say talk to those who know more. That means much more than the rule anyways, IMHO. If someone still feels like a beginner, there is a class for them. If they don't, they belong in novice...

JE513

Yeah, whatever. Regardless, by the end of the season last year, Derek, you were winning the races in that class so I don't think you need to drop back down to Beginner.

If someone still feels like a beginner, there is a class for them. If they don't, they belong in novice...

Funny thing about this is, is that last year I was a Beginner and after 2 races I was told that I could only run Novice because Beginner would no longer be offered...

Relax. I'm just reading the rules as they've been posted here. Like I said, I know squat about runabouts, and I really can't tell who's who when you guys are out there, besides Luke Fritz - cuz he's one total bad a s s mmmer fffer ;). Everybody else just whizzes by and looks like the same darn GPLXPXRXTZRF racer to me. Sorry.

Anyhow, if he's already figured out how to win a regional novice moto or two, and there were say 4 or more racers on the line, then he's progressed beyond beginner, IMHO.

As for not offering beginner, I can see why Scott might choose to not offer it later in the season - if he's assuming no more new racers plan to show up in August maybe???

Well as far as the size of the (coarse)or dare I say course it is pretty much the same as what your used to here in the Gay Lakes Watercross Tour. The laps are they same here as in N.Y. we were doing 6,6,8 laps per moto in Amateur Stock. Considering you "locked up" 3 classes last year..... I don't think you should have a problem. So I say run em' both and the same goes for Derek, race both of those classes that you were talking about.

Side notes:

1) Keep in mind that this is pwc racing. Just because you read something (that seems to be "official") about the sport/racing/rules/whatever, that does not necessarily mean these "official" written words will correspond to reality :). Please don't allow this to frustrate you. You will find plenty of other things to become frustrated about.

2) As the season is approaching quickly now, please be sure to review the following: http://motograffix.net/Forum/showthread.php?517-Helpful-hints-for-keeping-your-sanity-during-the-2010-GLW-racing-season

No problem.

I haven't really followed the workings of the beginner ski or beginner runabout classes at all. I see that beginner runabout had entries all season. Are you saying you were told it wouldn't be offered, so you didn't enter, or are you saying you weren't allowed to enter beginner after you tried it twice??? I guess I'm not sure what you're saying here, or what happened that bothered you regarding the beginner class???

I really do not think you have anything to worry about. Most of the riders from out of state are going to be the Pro and Expert racers. You may see at the most 4 maybe 5 Novice from out of state.( But i could be wrong) And most of them will be stock or will have a mild limited. You will be fine. Just race your race. My first National race was at the APBA Nationals and I had 12 guys on line in Novice Stock and went for a swim and I was in 4th place when that happen. Went to the LCQ got 2nd. Then finished 8th in the overall in the finials. Your getting yourself all worked up for nothing you will be fine.
