The 2010 Race Dates are posted on the News Page @ the web site.
Here is the pay-out structure for Expert and Pro-Am Classes. (Runabout & Ski)
Expert Class. 25% of paid entry fees will pooled for year end Pay Outs. Trophy's also for top 5 over-all for season. Must be a minimum of 6 paid entry fees at the event for it to qualify for year end pay out.
Pro-Am Class. 40% of paid entry fees will be pooled for year end Pay Outs. Trophy's also for top 5 over-all for season. Must be a minimum of 8 paid entry fees at the event for it to qualify for year end pay out.
Novice Trophy Classes.
The Vintage Ski Class, Junior Ski Stock Class, Novice Ski Stock Class and Novice Runabout Stock Class. You receive a medal at each round you finish in the top 3, and a large trophy (top 5 or 10) at years end for over-all in points.
If the turn out for the year is just as large in the Novice Limited Classes i will do the same thing for the over-all winners in those classes as well. I am working on the Vets, Masters and Women's classes prizes for 2010.
This is for Pro Tour Promotions events only.
We have SEA-DOO on board and am working with Skat-Trak to be tour sponsors so that will help with prizes for this year. Sincerely, Scott.

I have 2 questions... first does this mean that the entry fees are going up??? and does the race in racine count, because it isnt really a glw race and the fees are alot more???? later

I would guess that the pay schedule for Racine is the schedule posted on AJ's site. It's better than last year and doesn't require minimum entrys to get paid. http://www.uwpinc.com/competition_classes.htm

Yea its good ,my only issue with that is the pro am stock isnt apart of the big money and 800 ss is??? what is up with that??
Chopper
04-19-2010, 10:23 AM
I saw that too, I don't get it either... The R/A Stock should be a part of the big money forsure. No love man, no love.

I was wondering about the first round also. It's listed as round 1 with two dates and the other races that have two dates have two rounds listed. Does only one of the days count?

Are the prices per weekend the same with GLW as they were last season?
Also for the first race of the season, how do we go about signing up for that race since its not a GLW race? Thanks guys!!

Spencer that makes the most sense... it sucks ass but it makes sense... its like everything, the more people you know the better off you will be... to sign up,like jb wrote, go to the uwp site... the thing with that is make sure you sign up for a class with alot of people so you have a shot at cash... nov stock, limited etc... it costs alot more there than glw but it is a national event,it is awesome thing to be apart of...if you dont plan on ever going to havasu or any other big event this is as close as it comes.... dont be intimidated ,if you have any issues or questions ask any of us... glw guys will all try to pit together to make it easier for everyone..you will have 2 motos on sat and one on sunday the pro am guys will have one sat and 2 sunday..

The race in Racine is run by AJ's company, UWPinc. You will have to register at his web site and pay them. The points will count towards your Great Lakes Watercross overall for the 2010 season, It is not part of the overall pay out for Expert and Pro-Am for Great Lakes Watercross. The link has been posted in this thread and i will also put a link to AJ's site on the race site info page on my web site ( www.greatlakeswatercoss.com ) in the next few days. Scott.

So, is it safe to assume that the class list for the Racine race will be STRICTLY what UWP offers? Meaning, no vintage classes, right? Anybody know of any GLW racers that plan to race Sport Spec? I may wind up just doing that, unless someone else with a SXR wants to swap for my Blaster that weekend - then I can get my a s s kicked in a novice ski class instead :)...

well i dont agree with all the races are the same... we have never even came close to a full line at any of our races.. there is somthing to be said when you are on line with 20 other guys... it can be nerve racking to say the least... its just not a big deal when you have done alot... i guess you get used to it.. all in all good times... i just dont like the fact our first race is going to be a national tour stop.. i guess we are jumping in with both feet this year...

I get the idea of TREATING a national race like it's all the same, in your head at least. You know, get focused, keep your head in the game, don't do anything stupid, ride hard - all that kind of stuff. However, the simple fact that you're used to lining up with 5 guys and now you're lining up with 20 means something you shouldn't ignore - not to mention that you're lining up with a bunch of riders with tendencies and abilities you're not familiar with. You just gotta put that in the back of your mind and ride smart, and more than anything, hold your line while staying aggressive. If the thought of a full line terrifies you beyond belief, just sit and watch instead. If it terrifies you just a little bit, perfect - this means you're human, you're accurately aware of the situation at hand, and you're likely to do fine. If it doesn't terrify you in the least, and you've done it many times before, you're an experienced veteran of the sport with icewater in your veins. If it doesn't terrify you in the least, and this is your first time racing a national event, you're either dangerously uninformed or borderline insane - and you should just sit and watch with the thoroughly terrified as well :)...

I also see that the pole position will not be like what we are used to. It will be picked by compitition manager and not by picking ping pong balls.

Joe, what paul said is what I was talking about. The bottom line is that it's worse and more dangerous to go into a national all worried about things. Yeah, there are obvious differences but at the end of the day it's just another race.

yea i agree you race hard and try not to let things bother you ... but we have alot of first timers here in this region.... most nver went to anything like this.. so i hope i am not freaking them out... i just want them to be prepared... we have the advantage, nobody in any other region has used the starting gate... most people not from around here think lake michigan is a inland lake... but we all know it can get really ugly out there and they are going to freak out..

This should be interesting, I never thought of that most people have no idea what the lake is like. Some of the ocean riders should not have a problem except for the water temps. It will be a little chilly yet in June.

Hopefully with the unseasonable spring we have been having the water will warm quicker than normal. I guess the month of May will be the deciding factor on that one.
joe563
04-23-2010, 09:21 AM
Lake michigan water temps hinge on east wind conditions... it will be warm if most of the month it is east winds bring in the warm top water... it didnt happen last year.. cold all year... burrrr look at sheboygan... that was just wierd huh..
RagingDiablo666
04-23-2010, 09:23 AM
Practicing on the big pond and living right off the lake helps. I only ride out there, practice where you will race. Might be pretty cold in June still...water temps in the 60's. Might still be wearing the dry suit come the first round. Thanks for the link to update my membership. Will do that asap, then sign up for the event. Joe, Can I run amateur and novice stock? I know if I move to expert I won't be able to go back down, but not sure about the amateur class.
joe563
04-23-2010, 11:47 AM
Yes you can, you can also run lites class.. any am class is open to nov and exp riders.. I dont think we will have am classes in glw but it will be in racine.. that would be a good way to go..

And I would expect nothing less from you, Spencer. Enjoy your wreckless abandon while you can, seriously, cuz pretty soon you'll be lining up right after your kids say, "Good luck Daddy", and then you sure as hell can't afford to get hurt for the sake of the national tour, world tour, universe tour, or even the infinity tour!!! Ah, to be invincible once again :)...

If ANYBODY (ski, runabout, wetbike, kayak) wants to get some laps in, feel free to e-mail or pm me and invite yourself to my place. (Go to mapquest and search waterford, wi).
Here's the thing, there are several places on the river by me that are WIDE , I'm talking 1/4 - 1/2 mile, fairly private, and perfect for setting up a buoy course. The only trouble is they are a mile or two north of my subdivision's private launch. So, if I wanna set up buoys by myself with my SJ, it's a bi tch. I made a hydro-trailer out of a vxr hull years ago, and it works, but it's just one more thing I gotta launch and deal with. However, if SEVERAL people want to set up bouys, then we can each carry a couple and it's EASY to do. My anchors are actually just 18" sections of pvc pipe filled with sand, so you can stand on them on a ski or stick them in your foot trays on a runabout. Most of the places I can set up have 3 feet of water and a foot of muck, so the pvc anchors sink right in and stay put.
Oh, and BTW, nothing warms up faster than the fox river by me. On Good Friday, the water temp was 58-60 on the river already. It was still under 50 on lake tichigan (connected to the river), but I don't need the lake anyhow. 1100 total boatable acres here, and 700+ of it is the river from the dam in waterford up to the tichigan marsh.
