July 11th already has 2 national tour stops that weekend... How many races can be supported in the U.S. at one time? The likely hood of me hitting all the rounds much like I have over the past 5 years is minimal I'll hit both Lake MI rounds posted forsure though.
My racing will be 100% dictated on my budget, and that is minimal at best with the highest quality races being first in line. Lake Michigan is high on that list of quality events Fo Sho!
Of course Havasu will be a must as well.

Where did all those dates come from?? Looks like the tour is being grown to 10 rounds? SWEET! This might be the second time (and in a row) where the dates magically align with my other show events so I would get to hit them all! Any idea when the schedule will be more firmed up?

Just stay calm the it will change alittle. Some date will not happen. This is just to give us a idea of what the season may look like. It prob will be alittle less. I think about 5 to 7 rounds. In 4 different sight. This is my guess.

New schedulue updates today:
2010 Great Lakes Watercross
This is a partial schedule for the up coming year. As we complete our meetings with the City's and sponsors, more info will be announced. Sadly some race dates may not happen do to funding, but this will give racers and family an idea of what weekends we working on for events.
JUNE 6, Sunday - Tentative.
JUNE 19 & 20, RACINE, WISCONSIN UWP/GLW-IJSBA National tour.
JULY 10, Saturday - Tentative.
JULY 24 & 25, KENOSHA, WISCONSIN. the K-Town Throw Down.
AUGUST 8, Sunday - Tentative.
AUGUST 28, Saturday - Tentative.
I see a few of the dates have shifted a bit, and the TBAs have become "Tentatives" instead. Anybody know about some of the "tentative" cities being considered? I heard a rumor about Janesville (again), I guess that'd be the "Rumble on the Rock" huh?

Janesville would be great!! (our backyard) When was the last time GLW raced there? And how was the site?

I can agree with Janesville, and Lake Geneva would be a nice spot to?

I have heard Beloit might also be on the schedule. I would like to see us go back to the Lure. Those races were always fun times.

Has far as I know we never have had a race in Janesville or Beloit. I think the Janesville sight is where they have ski shows in the summer. Not sure on Beloit.

Any of those you just listed are close to us.... which helps when your on a budget
fox river pwc
02-05-2010, 10:06 AM
Yeah, I heard the beloit rumor as well.
The janesville site is, in fact, where the ski shows happen. It's just north of the dam. There is a park and a launch right there. Very convenient place to have a regional race. With the minimal snowfall this year, the rock river should be doable. The water levels there can be crazy otherwise, just ask zig.
I guess beloit would be on the rock as well. I don't know of any other water around there??? I've only been through beloit a couple times, and never looked around. Craig, you must truck through there once in a while?
I like the lure as well, but it's a hike for all but a few of us, especially when you're spoiled by all these SE and southern WI races and rumors :). Last time we were at the lure, I didn't notice any spectators - kinda hard to get sponsors for that, ya know? Plus, didn't the lure stop liking us, or something to that effect? I never heard the whole story, just bits and pieces.
Anyhow...

02-05-2010, 12:11 PM
Lure didnt stop liking all of us. A group goes there all summer long
fox river pwc
02-05-2010, 01:55 PM
Then that's a good thing (regarding the lure). I'm guessing the key phrase in your post, spencer, is "all of us".
I definitely don't know the whole story 'bout the lure, just that there is/was some kind of story as to why the GLWT hadn't returned since 2007. Maybe there isn't/wasn't a story? I dunno.
As for Lake Geneva, definitely a solid spot for a race IMHO. I took some pics for scott a while back at bigfoot beach. There is a wakeboarding event, a national tour stop actually, held at bigfoot beach with the nearby bar hosting/sponsoring it. Last time I attended in 2008, it was held on two WEEKNIGHTS, wed and thurs I believe, in july. Attendance was roughly 10,000 total for the two nights, no joke - I got attendance numbers from one of the staffers there, plus I saw it myself. It was packed!! Since parking is tight there, spectators parked about 5 miles away in a field and were transported, for free, on school buses back and forth to the beach all night. There had to be 20-30 buses running. They also close the road in front of the beach for the event.
I can only guess that somebody is making some money there. Oh, and the best part is that my son and I agreed that the event was completely boring to watch. It was 15 seconds of action, maybe 2 jumps, then a fall, followed by 5-8 minutes of waiting for the chop to settle down before the next competitor repeated the process. If people think jet ski racing is boring to watch and too much waiting for sh it to happen, they haven't been to a nighttime wakeboarding event.
Anyhow, TONS of rich kids from IL there and lots of their rich parents too. I gotta believe that some powersports dealership could justify sponsoring a pwc race there as well. I live just 30 min from LG, and my wife and I go there pretty regularly all year, and summer weekends there are absolutely insane - just packed with rich people spending their money all over the place.

Hey we don't go to the Lure because the racers don't show, only a hand full of our core racers make that site. The best showing was the year end race for the over-all titles in 06 or 07. I love going to the lure. Tom, the owner was easy to work with and provided a great race site. As you all know it takes big money to race, not to mention putting one on. I have been working on both Beloit and Janesville Races with local help, they are still in the planning stages. I will say this, the Beloit race COULD be HUGE. Have you ever been to the River Fest Rock Concerts. Keep your heads above water. Moto1

Yeah I agree that it isnt in the best interest of the tour to have an event on the weekend of a close National Tour stop, or to have an event where there would be no spectators. Spectators are not just needed for sponsors... they help grow the sport. They buy magazines, download videos, and rent/buy watercraft. We need to show the masses how much fun the sport is so that it grows!!

yes, once again, we are trying to bring a race to janesville. traxler park has a great beach, grand stands, large parking lot, with ramp, etc.
we are also hoping for beloit. it too is the rock river, and there is a nice area with a park, launch, etc. they have hyroplane, and tunnel boat races here in the summer.
as of now, beloit looks to be a better chance of hapening, over janesville. persoanlly, i would love to do both. BUT we are running out of time ( again) and i am getting busy here in the shop, and not sure how much i can get done.

No way! Lake michigan races kick the butt out of lame river races.
Seriously thought, its more fun to watch, you get a better workout, and I feel like I am a better rider after a race in the waves... I say have it atleast 50/50
The only downside I can see to wave races are setting up buoys and course marshalling

scott came down to k-town for a meeting with ed and i and the guy from the rotry club(beer tent guy) it wasnt what we expected, so the beer tent is questionable at best at this point but we are still trying.. also we are looking to do a tee shirt for that event and selling add space on the back of it.. so if anyone has any ideas for some sponsorship cash please give me a call.. the date is set in stone for kenosha so dont worry about anything changing with this one.. scott went infront of the parks dept and the city and it is all squared away.. good times my friends we will be on the water soon i hope.. spenser is one bad ?!?$##$ shut your mouth.. lake michigan is the best we have,4 joke what ... josh is a hater..

I don't care where the races are as long as there is adequate space on the water to set up a decent course and the site is within a 1 hour drive from my house :).
Oh, it would also be nice if we could always have a "busted steering run-off area", for safety's sake...

Spenc dont take me the wrong way I am not saying Lake Michigan races are not a blast. It is just that my Ultra works better on the flatter water. If I was running an RXPX like the other guys I would say a different thing. But that for sure is not happening this year.

Now that is funny crap!
Bring on the great race venues in the big lake or the small rivers. It doesn't much matter as long as I have to drive at least 4 hours just so I can hang with my Buddy Fox River... (Do you miss me yet?)
As far as fund raising, I say we host Midget Wrestling at Joes Garage! I have heard that he has a pretty close relationship with Wee Man.

All the spots sounds good, and would only travel about an hour anywhere west of the lake. Otherwise...I am a Big Pond guy...they call it water-cross. We need more races with 5 to 7 foot waves, that is what the crowd wants to see, big air. I second the midget wrestling, only 10 min away from Joe's place. I will be on the storms moving in next week... Anyone one come join the party and get some 20 foot air on a RA?!?

Welcome to the forum.
You can find a good amount of racing info at www.greatlakeswatercross.com. Take your time and click on all the buttons on that site and read all of it. It will give you a good start.
Also, I'm from Oak Creek originally, so let me offer my condolences ;). Seriously though, a bunch of the racers on this forum live within 30 minutes of you and we'd all be happy to help you get started. I also ride a lot at Bender Park, so I may run into you there - just not literally, hopefully.
Anyhow, do some reading on the Great Lakes Watercross site, read some here, then feel free to post any questions that arise for you. Feel free to pm me here if you'd like also. I'll give you my cell # if you want.
With your xi, you can certainly sign up for Beginner Runabout to start out. It's not uncommon to run beginner for a few races, and some guys run beginner their whole first season. Once you're comfortable, and have demonstrated enough skill, you'll move up to Novice.
Good luck, and feel free to ask any of us for help - basically anyone in here with 100 or more posts can help get you started...
