View Full Version : Anybody notice this
The dates that region 6 have as TBA are the same dates that region 4 has locked in Kenosha and PP. Think there may be a shared stop? I think with the low numbers in the sport promoters should look into this to save money and at the same time bring more racers to the line at the same event.
Maybe this will bring more interest to the sport.

That would be cool. More racers and a R4 vs R6 battle!
How would we get scored?

I dunno. From my communications with Patrick, I would doubt that both stops would be "shared", but who knows? I know the turnout at Walled Lake for both weekends last year were huge - both were double to triple what I've ever seen at a GLW race. Also, the marketing manager at the bar, Tony, (yes, they actually have their own full-time marketing person on staff) that sponsors the Walled Lake event told me both personally and in e-mails that he'd like to have a race there about every other weekend from Memorial to Labor Day, so I gotta believe that he's pushing Patrick to give them at least one, but probably both of those remaining TBA's. I also gotta believe that Patrick would rather run a large regional race, with a guaranteed sponsor, that's just 45min from Detroit, than haul even some of his stuff/people 7 hours away to SE WI to share an event. UNLESS, that event would somehow be guaranteed to be incredibly huge. I guess we'll see, but the vast majority of the Region 6 racers seemed to love going to Walled Lake, because it was CLOSE for them and a very nice site as well.
Think of it this way, Walled Lake is to Region 6 what Pleasant Prairie (at least as it was in 2007) is to Region 4, 'cept even bigger. Yes, some racers from both regions may "cross over" and attend both events (if scheduling conficts don't exist), but will enough racers from Region 6 be willing to drive to PP/Kenosha to justify sending them to Region 4 instead of just running additional races at Walled Lake?

It depends if they are in a points race and had a couple of bad days I guess..We do need to promte better... if we all brought one friend, think of the lines... still not full oh well...
I would love to bring some friends that would be more interested in racing. The problem is that most of them are so broke they can't afford to pay attention. I have one friend that may be interested in racing vintage, but that depends on if he gets his drivers license back. I will be talking to him in the next week or so to find out what his story is.

Hey spencer, you should also find 4 friends to come and race your 4 brand new $2300 SXRs this season ;).
You'll need to find a serious hauler to transport TEAM SPENCE-R in comfort and style.
Sorry, just couldn't resist that one.....................

Here, in case the above post makes no sense to you:
http://www.pwctoday.com/showthread.php?t=207227
Better grab a six-pack and some popcorn. You're gonna be reading for a while.
Short version:
MN kid claims he went to the Minneapolis boat show and found a performance shop in Baxter, MN selling 17 brand-new-in-the-crate Kawi SXR800s for $2300 each. Many people fell for it despite the fact that many things about the story did not add up - like the address of the shop did not even exist. It does not seem that anyone was scammed out of money (at least no one posted and admitted to being suckered out of actual money), but at least a couple people drove from quite a distance to go pick up some skis. One poster even took a day off work and drove 8 hours one-way only to learn he'd been duped. Now the MN kid that got the ball rolling needs to grow eyes in the back of his head, as his involvement in this is not going to end the way he probably hoped it would...

I have been trying to get some more people intersted but so far it has been tough. I know that at least there should be more people watching the races because of me. Maybe they will catch the bug and show up on the line after they see the fun we are having.

We got a 2, 2place trailers. We might take two cars and put 2 skis on each trailer. We were also thinking of making one of them a 4 place for stand ups.
Ill be on my sxr
My dad will be on a sxr (if he comes)
Cousin Landon will be on a sn or 650 kawi
and friend Matt will be on a 750
I have a couple other friends with 650s and 750s that thought about coming also. So should be a full car to Lacross and pdc but any other races besides that are 8+hour round trip...

Just bring all the cars with V8s you've got. Then we'll set up scott's starting gate on the street in front of the beach and do some match races. Maybe we'll even throw a buoy or two out there on the street, so you're alcohol monster isn't a shoe-in.

On the surface a shared event looks great... But as history will have it Pat Likes to schedule events the same weekend as scotts events and other promoters also. It screws everyone. I personally and starting to think that if it is conflict of interest for Pat to run the APBA PWR and be a promoter that competes with other promoters for the same racers at events.
I hate to be negative but it's all I have left. This sport has left me jaded and broke. The economy will be hurting for some time and even though gas is cheap people are tapped out in many ways.

Let them know about the forum. We need some more members on here. Plus if they have any questions someone should be able to answer them.
